Long-distance move from Florida to Arizona

Bait and Switch - they will take your money

WARNING!!! AVOID!!! They will provide you with a great quote and then show up and try to charge you way more. I started out at $4200.00 then I did the review again before the move and they increased the price to $5500.00 I thought that would at least be safe, they showed up and wanted $11,000.00 to move me. They said I had way more stuff than what was quoted. Of course, I said I cannot pay this much I don't have it. So they tried to find another mover to do it for cheaper and they cam e back to me at $9000.00 on top of my $800.00 deposit. I explained I cannot afford it as I don't have the money for this. Of course they said ok if you reject the offer we are keeping your deposit. So I lost $800.00 and had to rent a truck and move it myself. Now mind you my original quote was for 1200 cubic feet and after the movers showed up they said it was 2300 cubic feet and thats why my price went up so much. So the original quote was almost 100% off. You would think they would have an idea when you provide a detailed inventory. They do not know what they are doing. To make matters worse, I packed all of my belongings in a 26ft truck to approximately 1700 cubic feet. So after the movers did a visual inspection of all my belongings they tried to over charge me on the spot by 600 cubic feet and not give me my deposit money back. This company tried to put me in a corner on a day that I planned to have everything done. Thankfully I was able and prepared to say no and had the time to make other arrangements. Most people do not have the option and they have to get the move done that day. I cannot imagine how many people have been taken advantage of by this company. Very disappointed with the experience. The lease they could have done was give me my deposit back since they completely missed the mark on the original and updated estimates. Their contracts are set to take advantage of you. Do not give them a deposit and I would recommend that you only work with a company that does a visual inspection of your goods and provides options if they are going to increase they charge for any reason. Be careful out there, apparently a lot of these small movers operate this way.

Long-distance move from Ogden, UT to Colorado Springs, CO

Absolutely the worst moving company ever hired

Very small studio apt. move from UT to CO, Bait and switch with the square footage- tried to charge more at time of pick up and then outsourced to NV company - NO communication. STAY AWAY. They would not settle on a date of pickup- moving target then they call the day of and show up with a drive that spoke no English- was very rude to me - and then refused to take my stuff- then threatened to leave - I got a hold of customer service and they worked it out with the driver- but then they held my stuff fo the full 14 day period for deliver and came on a sunday- my stuff was throw in a budget rental truck (Streamline Movers - Las Vegas NV- a subcontractor) and I asked them to go through the invenstory with me- they would not until i released payment- they held my things hostage until I paid - then they just piled it up in my storage unit- and I was left counting the inventory myself- most boxes were damaged - retaped poorly and overall things were treated like garbage, my 2K mountain bike wheels were bent and twisted handled bards- completely brutal. I had NO furniture, nothing over 50lbs. They treated my things like trash and they were so awful to deal with - no one returned phonecalls and or my concerns - Most of this had to be done in cash - execept the deposit and I lost that as well with my Credit Card since they said nothing was damaged- BS I have photos and now I have to deal with them directly, CJ was a liar an scam artist once he took your money he was like a ghost- trash business they run and I would be careful, I lost 1500 I should have done it myself - they cost me 2 weeks extra in an airbnb - I hope they go out of business for such awful treatement of my goods - thank goodness no family heirlooms or valuables - I would be filing a claim - and probably will with state of FL. Move Date Nov 15, 2024.

Long-distance move from San Diego, CA to Dania, FL

I was Hesitant in the beginning, but it worked out wonderfully

I have to share my experience with Alliance Van Lines.. I was very hesitant to use a moving company again. After talking to several companies and gathering several quotes I decided on going with Alliance.. I spoke with a gentleman by the name Larry who was very kind and informative.. Although it wasn’t the cheapest of my quotes nor the highest, I now see it was done accurately. In past moving experience I was up charged at the time of the move, and had a horrible experience with the past movers customer service. Larry added proper fees at the time of the estimate and was very detailed on my inventory compared to my last moving experience.. I’m had one minor issue and was able to reach Larry and he addressed it Immediately. My Items arrived within a very reasonable timeframe. I highly recommend them.. Again thank you Alliance Van Lines and I’ll definitely recommend and if need, use you in the future..

Long-distance move from Massachusetts to Florida

STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS OR IT WILL COST YOU!!!

Basically, I contracted with Alliance Van Lines and gave them a list of what we were moving. Based on that list, they estimated 817 cf. and I paid them a deposit of $1180.

A few days before the move, after all was packed, we revised the list to 931 cf. I paid them another deposit of $789.39 for the difference . That left a balance of $2506.62, half of which they said I would pay on the day of the move and the other half when our items were delivered to Florida.

The company actually doing the move, their sub contracted “Expert” Movers from NJ, came on the day before our closing time. When 90% of our items were loaded onto their box truck, he said “we’ve reached the 931cf limit. I estimate it will be about another 300 cf left”. I protested and called Alliance. Alliance Dispatch was on speakerphone with them and all Alliance could say was I needed another binding estimate from “Expert” Movers to move forward. They did not challenge their figures which they themselves calculated based on the exact list that we provided. 300 cf is 1/3 more space than what was already loaded. The driver said it would be about an extra $1200 and they wanted cash. Then he called his office and said, “just give us $1000 extra". I said absolutely not. Since they had most of our belongings on the truck and we needed to vacate before noon the next day at closing, I was in a bind, so I adamantly said, "only $800 extra. I don’t care how you figure that out, but that’s it.” So he adjusted the final cf to 1156 cf based on the amount of money, not any accurate measurement at all. They left and I figured I’d take the issue up with Alliance and “Expert” Movers. On our way to Florida down I-95, I spent hours on the phone with both companies stating that there was no way we had 1/3 more cf than what Alliance had agreed upon and that the 1156 cf figure was based on a dollar amount, not a measurement. So all Alliance said all they could do was to have “Expert” Movers remeasure the load before delivery (it was taken to their wear house in NJ to be loaded on to a tractor trailer). They came back saying 1156 cf was the accurate measurement, and at that point Alliance bowed out. “Expert” movers agreed to reduce the $800 extra cost by $100, so I owed them $700 at this point in addition to what I owed Alliance.

When the tractor trailer pulled up, he demanded cash or no unload at our destination. I paid it and we got our belongings, some damaged as well.

After contacting the Florida AG's office, a representative and I spoke with John Edwards, Alliance's dispatch manager. All he could say was that the 1156 cf was an accurate measurement according to their sub contracted movers, refused to admit it was not accurate as it was never measured at my home, and was exactly the same in the warehouse in NJ with "Expert" Movers but based on an adjusted cf figure from a dollar amount at my home. Sound accurate to you? He said without pictures there was nothing he could do in spite of "doing the right thing". Stay away from these unethical people!

Long-distance move from Henderson, NV to Lakewood, OH

Awful

Our initial experience with Alliance started off well—but it quickly went downhill. They brokered our move to a company with a reputation for damaging belongings and failing to deliver on time.

Our delivery was over two weeks late, and when it finally arrived, many items were soaking wet and damaged. Even the movers, who were subcontracted by Move On ( move on is the company subcontracted by alliance) admitted this kind of mishandling is typical for them.

When we tried to contact Move On, they hung up immediately. Alliance, our original point of contact, has been equally unhelpful. We trusted them to handle our move professionally, but instead, they partnered with unreliable companies and put our entire move—and belongings—at risk.

Long-distance move from Ardsley, NY to Madison, WI

Worst experience EVER

I booked a move with a $750 deposit with Paul Levine On April 11th, 2025 for my daughter who was starting a new job. He was very responsive and accommodating and told me they could deliver her things in the first two days of May. I missed some she had for the move so contacted to add the items I missed and expected to add to the price. They were again very accommodating. Then I looked again at the contract and there was no specified delivery date. I called on April 14th and 15th, no one answered on the 14th and on the 15th the woman said they have a 21 day delivery window – its in the fine print paragraph 8. I texted Paul directly and it took him two days to respond. When I made the deposit, I was told they could meet my delivery needs until the after cancelation time then it was we can’t guarantee anything. I immediately told them that was not what I agreed on and I could not do the move that way. This was NOT what I agreed to.

Long-distance move from Santa Rosa, CA to Manassas, VA

Lots of fake reviews. Lots of red flags.

Cancelled my move after too many red flags.

The agents on the phone seemed professional and very friendly. The price they gave for a cross-country move was amazing (too good to be true). I read the contract details, and it was standard language for a moving Broker; for example, they can cancel your move if they're unable to find a truck and refund you in full (leaving you stuck without a move).

That language only scared me because the company has no reviews older than 6 months, and all the reviews seem fake (confirmed by Yelp, showing them as "not recommended" and Google, which removed their business page. Also see their BBB page, which shows them as being in business for 14 years, but with reviews only since January 2019.)

I had paid a deposit which the contract showed as fully refundable with enough notice. I gave notice, and had to endure multiple high pressure sales calls before getting the refund 9 business days later (despite the contract saying 7 business days).

Be cautious with this company.

On 6/11/2019 I was contacted by Jennifer from Alliance Van Lines offering me $100 in order to remove this same review on Yelp. I can't be bought (well, maybe for $1 million..).

Long-distance move from New York to Florida

Worst move ever.

Moved to Florida they treated our belongs like garbage. To many broken, wet boxes. They had no care for fragile and lied about the weight of the load. They didn't have enough room so they had to rent another truck (U Haul) they delivered the first truck the second truck went straight to Miami where they unloaded and put our stuff on another truck that went BACK TO NEW YORK and then finally a week later made it to our destination and then they tried to screw us out of another $700 saying that was the balance due to weight.. This was the worst and most deceiving experience. The insurance is a joke..I would never ever recommend them..they don't even deserve one star they are a negative..

Local move within Florida

Liars.

Complete trash. They call and get your money for a broker fee and then hand you off to a mover. When I mean hand you off I mean completely wash their hands of the move. I recently had my personal items moved out of state. The mover damage almost all of my items. 4k is losses. My wife was pressured into signing a insurance doc for which she did not understand at the time of the move. After 120 day claim process the co offered us $90.00.

Due you due diligence and select another broker.
FIRST CLASS THIEVES.. MY ADVICE WOULD BE IMMEDIATELY FIND A NEW CO OR DONT USE A BROKER AT ALL.

WHITE GLOVE SERVICE. HAHAHAHAHAH.
